HLS LIFT CONTOLLER

An HLS lift controller is a microprocessor-based elevator control system that manages a lift's functions, including its movement, door operations, and safety features. The acronym HLS typically refers to hydraulic lift systems, such as models manufactured by Elevator Controls Corporation (now part of Vantage Elevation). 

Key functions and features

As the "brain" of an elevator, an HLS controller handles and coordinates all operational elements. Typical capabilities include: 

• Microprocessor control: Modern HLS controllers use high-performance microprocessors to manage all aspects of elevator operation with precision.
• Motion control: The system manages the elevator's speed and direction. For hydraulic systems, this means regulating the hydraulic power unit to ensure smooth acceleration and deceleration.
• Response to calls: The controller receives and queues requests from both inside the elevator car and from hall buttons. In collective control systems, it organizes requests to serve passengers efficiently.
• Door operation: The controller regulates the door's opening and closing speed, dwell time, and re-opening sequences for safety. It integrates with sensors to detect obstructions and prevent accidents.
• Safety monitoring: It continuously monitors safety features, including overload sensors, emergency stop buttons, and safety circuit faults, to ensure passenger protection and regulatory compliance. Some systems also have an independent safety monitoring circuit.
• Fault management: Modern controllers record fault data, which assists maintenance crews in diagnosing and repairing problems.
• Display and communication: The controller sends signals to floor and direction displays and can also support remote monitoring and integration with building management systems.
